At first glance, Yercaud might seem like a regular town on the hills but a closer inspection will reveal its beauty. The Yercaud hill area is called the Shevaroy Hills. It is situated at an altitude of 1515 metres (4970 ft) above Sea level and the highest point in Yercaud is the Servarayan temple, at 5,326 feet (1,623 m). It is the nearest town is Salem, 36 km away. Salem is located 355 km from Chennai, 195 km from Coimbatore and 236 km from Bangalore which makes it easy to reach though there can slight glitches. There is no public transport that directly connects Yercard from any of these major cities though the roads are in good condition. It is well connected to the main cities of India by a good network of roads. State owned transport buses private buses are also available from the nearby cities such as Chennai, Coimbatore, Bangalore and many more. The nearest railway stations to make it to Yercaud are Jolarpettai and Salem Junction, located 20km and 35km away. One can also take a taxi or bus from these railheads to arrive at Yercaud.
