Pagoda Point:
This is also another vantage viewpoint. Once upon a time a beautiful place adorned with stone built pagodas, it is now home to a huge temple. The neighborhood is splashed with erratic buildings that are a real turn off. Yet, if you haven’t been there, don’t miss it. The best time to visit it is during the night or early morning. It gives you a totally unique view of Salem and a voyeur’s view over the little village called Kakambadi. The cliff on the opposite side is fabulous and any rock climber wouldn’t be able to resist the temptation to scale them.
Silk Farm and Rose Garden:
Situated very close to Lady’s Seat, Silkworms are reared here. Located 2 km from Yercaud town, tourists can see the cultivation of mulberries, growing of silk worms, and methods of silk-spinning. The rose garden has a collection of varieties of roses. There is a nursery in this garden which sells plants.
Trekking in Yercaud:
Yercaud has developed into a major trekking destination in the region. Many treks are organized here. Chennai Trekking Club organizes treks in Yercaud.
Fairholme Bungalow:
Fairholme Bungalow is one of the old heritage colonial bungalows on Tipperary road. A Miss Pope sold it to the present owners, who converted it into a heritage hotel. It is furnished with antique furniture and fireplaces. Heaven’s Ledge: A Scenic west-facing cliff situated in Gowri Estate in Yercaud. It has been converted into a campsite to encourage sustainable tourism. It is 15 kms away from the main town area.
Anna Park:
Anna Park is a lovely garden near the lake. Lake Park, Gandhi Park & Children Park are the other parks to be visited in Yercaud.
Other Places of Interest:
Ornamental plants at Green House, Orchard cum Nursery of Rose plants, Silk farm, Arthur Seat, Horticulture Research Station, Orchiderium, Mettur View (on Nagalur Road), Cauvery Peak, Salem View (between 16th and 17th bends) are other places of interest.
